Support Us

As a registered charity with approximately 10% of its total income coming from government grants. The Visual Arts Centre relies on funding from private sources such as foundations, donations and sponsorships to subsidize course operations, outreach activities, gallery programming and administrative expenses. Support from our donor community is absolutely essential for us to continue to achieve our mission to offer exceptional and accessible art education in a stimulating and welcoming community. We are very grateful to each of our donors.

bi-Annual Giving Campaign

Since 1946, the Visual Arts Centre has been a leader in art education in Tiohtià:ke - Mooniyang - Montréal. Please help us to continue this work. You can make a difference! Every Dollar Counts

This year, we plan to raise $10,000 from our donor community. Help us offer the best possible art educational experience to each of our community members. Your donations allow us to:

  • Continue to offer a vibrant curriculum of in-person and online courses and workshops;
  • Keep tuition for courses as low as possible, especially given the smaller class sizes;
  • Continue to attract a dynamic team of talented and inspiring teachers;
  • Sustain the McClure Gallery, a respected contemporary art venue with free programming;
  • Organize free community outreach projects with vulnerable populations;
  • Responsibly maintain and upgrade our historic building.

Dear members of our community,

In the fall of 2023 the Visual Arts Centre launched its Bi-Annual Giving Campaign in support of ARTreach and all of our accessibility efforts. With your support, we were able to fund a variety of programming, including providing free daily classroom space and materials to students from Wagar Adult Education Centre’s program for adults with special needs.

At the VAC, Wagar students have learned printmaking, and ceramics, which they could not have done elsewhere. This year, for the second time, they will have a group show of their work, and are also participating in the Annual Student Show in the McClure Gallery.

This summer we will once again offer low-cost subsidized art workshops to community groups across the Island of Montréal in our facilities. For two years, we were able to subsidize adult art courses to students facing access barriers – in partnership with various community organizations. The funding for this program is running out and we are actively looking for new support.

Finally, we will continue to offer free and/or heavily subsidized camp experiences to children for whom the cost of camp is prohibitive. In 2023 we were able to offer six spots to campers and hope to be able to offer more in 2024.

In order for this work to continue, as well as the larger work of ARTreach and our accessibility efforts, we once again need your help. Please consider donating to the Visual Arts Centre so we can ensure that everyone and anyone can have access to art education.

Sincerely,

Amber Berson
