Self-Portraits: Mapping the Self Cancelled

This course will allow students to explore the practice of self-portraiture in conventional and unconventional ways using both drawing and painting techniques. The practice of self-portraiture will be used as a way of mapping the self, using an exploratory approach to drawing and painting that attempts to answer the question: who am I? In-class exercises are designed to broaden these concepts which can then be pursued at home. Contemporary works of art are presented each week to fuel inspiration and encourage group discussions.
