Camp - Abilities (10-12 yrs old)

Course info

About the course

This week, we’re taking a look at our abilities and strengths, which are all unique and different! The theme of the superhero will be our common thread, a concept that has fascinated authors, illustrators and artists for decades.

In the afternoons, campers will work on ideas for superheroes with assets often less valued by our society, in the image of the knitted costumes of artist Mark Newport.

Day at the Camp:

8:15 to 9 am: Pre-camp activities / Drop-Off (included in the registration price)

9 to 9:30 am: Icebreaker and Movement time

Some of the techniques and approaches we will be exploring this summer are collage, print-making, bookmaking, sculpture, assemblage, and large scale artmaking. Experimentation, creativity, and self-expression are encouraged, as well as skill development and an understanding of basic artistic concepts.
