About the course
This 6-week advanced course is intended for students who have mastered the essential brush and ink techniques of Chinese painting and wish to further explore the aesthetic nuances and expressive methods of Chinese painting in their artworks. This semester’s theme will concentrate on traditional landscape painting, as developed from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty in China. Students will be required to replicate a piece by an old master, after which they will apply the techniques learned to create a landscape painting inspired by a photograph of a natural scene. Prerequisite: Prior enrolment in two Chinese painting courses.
