Rug-hooking - Ground Floor*

Course info

About the course

Rug-hooking is an art with traditional roots in the practice of upcycling and creative reuse. Both artistic and utilitarian, rug-hooking is an exciting way to recycle textiles and reduce our environmental impact! This course will introduce techniques to design and hook your own personal rug project. Learn to “paint” beautiful compositions by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a backing material. Students will be guided to source and prepare their own materials using unwanted clothes and fabrics. Inspired by contemporary rug artists, we will discuss themes related to sustainability, identity, and personal traditions. No prerequisite.

* Universally accessible studio.
