Small Teapots: Shapes and Functions

Course info

About the course

In this course, you will learn to design and make a small ceramic teapot, inspired by Japanese (kyusu) and Chinese (gongfu) teapot designs. We will cover shaping techniques, assembling the spout, lid, and handle, as well as integrating a ceramic filter. Particular attention will be paid to balance, ergonomics, and pouring quality. You will also explore the concepts of volume, and proportions specific to teapots.

This course is for intermediate to advanced students and is intended for those wishing to create pieces that are both functional and artistic.
