McEntyre Literary Competition Vernissage

McEntyre Literary Competition Vernissage

Each year, the Visual Arts Centre organized the visual art component of the McEntyre Literary Competition. The Visual Arts Centre faculty will facilitate the program by coming directly to your school for three sessions between the months of February, March and April. We provide all
necessary materials for the project and lesson plans in advance.

All the finished artworks will be displayed in the Gallery at Victoria Hall in June. The exhibit is always well attended, allowing people of all ages to appreciate the creativity of youth and giving students the chance to proudly show their works to family and friends in the attractive and professional gallery venue.

To mark this year's McEntyre Literary Prize theme of “THE LIBRARY SPEAKS”, the Visual Arts Centre offered art workshops to over 225 students at three elementary schools - St. Leon, Westmount Park Elementary and the Priory.

The theme was explored by creating zines, with the guidance of the Visual Arts Centre art teachers: Amy Audet-Arcand, Isabelle Bredt, Chloë Lalonde, Stéphanie Morin and Hazel Thexton. The participants used three different mediums, watercolor, collage and printmaking to illustrate their story.

This project was made possible through funding from the City of Westmount and with the collaboration of the Westmount Public Library.
