Born in Colombia in 1987, Federico Cuartas Aristizabal grew up between South Korea and Cali, immersed in art books, cinema, and image-making. A life-changing encounter with watercolor during his teenage years set the tone for his future practice. After earning a BA in Film Studies from l’Université de Montréal and a Master’s in Visual Arts from La Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Federico fully embraced painting as his core discipline. Since 2013, he has committed to producing at least one drawing or painting per day—a ritual that has become his way of life. His work blends watercolor, gouache, and drawing with an emphasis on spontaneity, layered meaning, and emotional rawness. Now based in Montréal, Federico is an active artist and art educator. He also holds a second Master’s degree in English Studies. As of 2025, he has raised his daily output to a minimum of three works per day.
