Favorite VAC class, workshop, or program?
Definitely the jewelry classes which I took for 10 years making all sorts of pieces with various techniques such as depletion gilding, enamel, and anticlastic raising. I still get compliments though people asking me to set up an Etsy shop are always disappointed when I say no because I’m unable to make the same thing twice! (yes even my earrings are uniquely designed).
Why do you volunteer at VAC?
After covid isolationing it was back to celebrating community, craft, tangible experiences, and people. What better way, than contribute to such a local institution that does just that. The art of making and sharing creativity is at the heart of the Center and I want to help by bringing in my experiences and abilities to ensure its evolving success. Helping the Visual Arts Center remain an ongoing jewel in the local community so that many may benefit from it as I have. A wonderful place that encourages and promotes the importance of making art, of all media, and at all levels, abilities, and skills.
