Isabelle Mae-Yen Bredt

Isabelle Mae-Yen Bredt is a chinese-canadian artist and educator based in Tiohtià:ke – Mooniyang (Montréal) working in installation, photography and text. In 2021, Isabelle obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Concordia University. As the daughter of a Hong Kong immigrant, Isabelle’s work explores personal and collective history, as well as notions of displacement.

She is focused on referencing the image through spatial relationships as well as exploring ideas of documentation and representation. Through temporal and domestic materials, she hopes to complicate the status of art as a commodity, and focus on connection rather than product. Isabelle’s work has been shown in a number of group efforts in spaces across Montreal, including la Maison de la Culture Janine-Sutto, le Quartier des Spectacles, et le Livart Centre d’Art.
