Ryth Kesselring + Pavitra Wickramasinghe Cadence

Cadence presents the work of two artists exploring material ecologies. Swiss-born Ryth Kesselring combines woven textiles, plants, sound and electronics, interweaving the rhythms of the loom with the sounds of nature, spinning the frequencies emitted by plants to the hum of her spinning wheel. Sri Lankan-born Pavitra Wickramasinghe explores the sea as a liminal space, a symbol of travel, discovery and migration. Its ever-changing surface is depicted through drawing, laser-cut paper, folded paper, cyanotypes and animation, and reflects the fluidity of identity and place.
