Weaving I

This course is an introduction to weaving as a form of visual art-making. To begin, you will be guided through the building and setting up (warping) of a frame loom. During the course, you will produce samplers, learning various colour mixing and shape-building techniques – tapestry and weft-faced pattern weaving. You will also experiment with various pile techniques. We will go through several methods of finishing your weavings and finally, display possibilities. Throughout the course, you will be introduced to exciting weaving practices, both historical and contemporary. No prerequisite.
