Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Approved May 27, 2023

At the Visual Arts Centre, we actively promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Our community is composed of diverse individuals in terms of race, ethnicity, abilities, sexual orientation, gender, religion, age, and more. Importantly, we continuously strive to further increase diversity within our community. We recognize, respect, and honor each individual’s unique experiences, perspectives, and cultural background and work to ensure that each person has equal access to opportunities at the VAC and feels included.

Anti-Harassment Policy

Approved March 2019

This policy has the objective to affirm the Visual Arts Centre's commitment to prevent and to stop all situations of psychological or sexual harassment, including all forms of discriminatory harassment. The Centre also aims to establish intervention principles applied within the enterprise in the case of a harassment complaint, or the case a situation of harassment is signaled to the employer.

Non-violence protocol

Approved October 8, 2019

The Visual Arts Centre (VAC) is committed to providing a safe environment for all of its employees and students. Employees and students are expected to contribute to the maintenance of safe and calm environments at the VAC. All incidents and alleged incidents that are perceived as violent in nature must be treated seriously. Violence is not accepted nor tolerated at the VAC. The following does not replace the Anti-Harassment policy. Rather, it is a series of steps to help teachers if they and/or their students experience an act of violence, either committed or threatened.
