Where the Roads Meet explores the road as a place of passage, where the boundaries between places, memories, and identities become porous. Here, the road is both landscape and metaphor; a space where journeys intersect, transform, and continue.
Moving between reality and imagination, landscapes gradually merge until they form a shared territory. Distances collapse, seasons overlap, and familiar landmarks shift. Haiti, Montreal, New York, and other places are no longer separated by geography, but connected through lived experience, memory, and imagination. The works invite viewers to inhabit this in-between space: a place where multiple homes, histories, and identities can exist simultaneously without cancelling one another out.
Josepha Dumas is a Haitian-French multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Working across painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, sound, and video, she explores migration, memory, displacement, and belonging through layered landscapes and immersive environments. Born in Port-au-Prince and raised between Haiti, Miami, Germany, and Montreal, her work reflects fragmented geographies and diasporic experience. She has completed residencies at Maison d’Haïti and Kunstraum LLC and has exhibited internationally in South Korea, Germany, and Spain.
